A self-taught contemporary artist, Robin Dodge shares her vision of expressive lines, bold brush strokes, and vivid color in an expansive range of outlets from oil painting to murals. 

 

Dodge has an artistic command of pencil, charcoal, watercolor, and oils.  Most recently, she has added copper and aluminum repousse to her repertoire.  Her true love, though, is oil. 

 

From an early age, Dodge had an aptitude for art, and has spent her entire career as a professional artist.  A Colorado native, Dodge was born in Cañon City, grew up in Pueblo, and in 1987, she moved to Loveland, where she started working as a professional artist in 1990.  She focuses on abstracts in a variety of mediums with subjects that include landscapes, still-life, and design.  She also delves into portraits and memorial portraiture of locals and the infamous. 

 

Although initially self-taught, Dodge soon wished to experience different styles and mediums, so she began taking instruction from locally and nationally known artists, those of which include:  Tom Morris in watercolor, Rene Hart and Lu Haskew-both in oil still-life, Lyse Dzija in impressionism, Monty Taylor in stone sculpture, and George Koll in oil-landscape. 

 

Dodge sells her art through many venues, including several Colorado galleries and museums.  She designed and executed three commissioned private murals and participated in multiple solo and group exhibitions. 

 

One of Dodge’s favorite solo exhibitions was a three-year study of art history and the ways in which the icons of art influenced her work and guided her development as an artist.  All of this culminated in the four-month showing (Jul 14, 2012 – Oct 14, 2012) of Inspired:  Robin Dodge & the Masters of art at the Loveland Museum in Loveland. 

 

Dodge’s art can be found in various public places, including the Off Fellows Lodge No. 36 building, the Pullium Community Building, and a city transformer box, all in Loveland.  Dodge also served as a featured artist in several art shows such as the Gunnison Gallery Crawl & Music and the Broadway Art Gallery in Littleton.  She earned the prestigious Best of Show award from Art from the Heart in Loveland. 

 

As a full-time artist, Dodge has rounded out her art by taking on several professional roles, including the following: 

Member of steering committee for a national art show 

Artist coordinator for Loveland Garden Tour and Art sale 

Gallery chairwoman of the Loveland Lincoln Gallery – managing gallery operations 

Volunteer work for fundraising auctions, art tours, and art shows 

Participating artist in metal sculpture, found art sculpture, and snow sculpture competitions 

Art instructor for homeschooled students, a youth art group, and aspiring adult artists 

Held a member position for many years with the Thompson Valley Art League
