Independence Gallery
Kate Colby
Kate Colby joined the Independence Gallery in July, having previously been represented in other artisan galleries, notably for four years at The Artists’ Gallery in Canon City, Colorado, for three years at Rabbask in Loveland, and for the past four years at the Artisan Market in Clifton, Texas.
Her initial jewelry line, Nostalgique, incorporated vintage findings into nostalgia-themed pieces. In recent years, she has diversified, incorporating metal crafting, wire wrapping, and stone setting techniques into more contemporary and western-styled pieces.
A retired realtor, Kate’s passion is doing whatever she can to help protect the environment and foster restorative actions for the planet’s sustainability. This led to her establishment in 2022 of The Loving Climate Foundation, based in Loveland, Colorado. Its focus is the support and encouragement of climate remediation endeavors, with grants awarded through the Foundation for those purposes.
In line with these interests, Kate has also launched the Artisan Nature Stewards, as a showcase for laser-cut and nature-themed items commissioned from other artists,
with all sales proceeds gifted to environmental causes.
