Haley Nielsen

My name is Haley Nielsen. I am a young professional artist in the process of turning my work into a full-time career. I do commissioned artwork and sell prints and original works. I have lived in Loveland, Colorado, my entire life and am a self-taught artist. I create artwork in both traditional and contemporary styles, with a large focus on hyperrealism.
From a very young age, I knew that I wanted art to be the main focus of my life, and I have worked very hard to realize that dream. Nature, my surroundings, and music inspire my work. I have recently started using charcoal again, which was the medium I first started with, and it has become my main focus, along with oil paints.
The animal portraits I create draw attention to the subtle yet complex beauty and elegance they hold. The people and still life I depict in my work show the importance of light and shadows and allow the viewer to see the underappreciated detail in everything and everyone around us.
I create art simply because I love it. It allows me to express my love and appreciation for this world and reconnect with myself and the things in life that resonate with me the most. I am a proud member of the Gilpin County Arts Association in Central City, Colorado, and my work has been published in the 46th, 50th, and 54th Issues of Artistonish Magazine.
